The role of the traditional consultant pharmacist is changing. As the regulatory bodies demand more of facilities the role of the consultant pharmacist has evolved. Traditionally and most common, the consultant pharmacist role is an after-thought; a check the box role that is performed by a licensed pharmacist working part-time and outside of their expertise.
Efficiency and profit maximization have become the forefront of the modern ASC, this has come with challenges of their own.
